 Works good if follow the instructionAug 25, 2009

This product works good for us. I prepare hot meal every morning, and my kid says the meal is still warm enough at lunch time for him to enjoy. But you have to follow the instruction, otherwise you will get cold lunch. Pour very hot (or boiled) water into the jar, let it warm up the stainless steel for about 5-10 minutes. Then quickly dump the water, put in your HOT meal, and cap it. This way, you should get warm (but not hot) lunch to enjoy. I like the design of the cap. Liquid won't flow out, and it is easy for my kid to open it himself. Overall, we like this product!

The product seems well made. It is 100% 18/8 SS on the interior where food makes contact, with a silicone ring at base of the cap for a tight seal (the ring is non-removable, which may be a little more work for cleaning, that's why the 4 stars). This is the only thermal container I found that uses stainless steel on the cap. Other brands (like Thermos) uses plastic (or silicone) on the cap's underside. I personally prefer to eliminate as much food contact with plastic as possible (even though they may be BPA free now, but who knows what other harmful plastic additives would be found later). For example, now they say phthalate is no good and I am faced with the difficult task of tossing out the kids' favorite toys. As with all thermos, it keeps the food temperature best by first warming up (or cooling down) the interior before adding your food, instead of letting your food lose its temperature doing just that. The only complaint here is that the price on Amazon is unbelievable. I found this same product at a 99 Ranch Supermarket for under $40! And you get to choose the color (from what they have in stock). Lucky for us to have a Chinese supermarket that carries the product...

Perfect size 16OZ each (Target has those Thermo brand, but at 10OZ, they are too small even for younger kids). My kid says the lunch is still quite warm at lunch time.
Like the other review said, it's somewhat pricy on Amazon. I bought it at Ranch99 store which sells the same two jar package for $29.99 plus tax, it's more reasonable.

They are simply nice looking stainless steel containers. Very pricey containers, as they won't hold the temperature for even an hour.

The two Stainless Steel Vaccum Lunch Jar By Bubee has proven a great product for my family. I have kids with food allergies...so sandwiches only go so far. These containers are double walled and perfectly sealed. They hold the heat well enough for my kids to enjoy "hot" lunch at school. We've used the containers for almost 2 years now and they have never leaked. (Please note: we only hand wash them to be on the cautious side.) While other such containers turned out to be too large or too small - these hold just the right amount of food - perfect for my 7 & 10yr. old's appetite. They were more than I wanted to pay - but thankfully - they have proven to be worth it. I would highly recommend this Bubee product.
