 Hot Hot Hot what a thermos!Jan 11, 2007

My husband is a telephone lineman in Alaska and works year round. This is the only thermos that has kept food piping hot 6-7 hours after preparing. I have tried to purchase more and have been unsuccessful. If you find a 16 oz thermos by Nissan buy it! you won't regret it.

Love this thermos - The kids can bring soup or left overs for lunch. No leaking and clean up easily - Also no danger of breaking. Although they seem expensive, they are worth it.

They tell you not to do this, but I use it for dairy: it keeps milk cold for hours. You need to be more thorough about cleaning it because the spoiled milk will smell. Here's how. The grey rubber gasket built into the underside of the lid is U shaped. So first, with the lid upside down, drip some dish soap into the center of the U, and after spreading the U shaped gasket apart, run your finger around it twice, then do it again under warm water.
Next, you'll need two q tips. Ram a soapy Q tip in the gap between the outer portion of the lid and the grey rubber gasket, to get under the U, like this U/ where it attaches to the center of the underside of the lid, You really have to ram it in there, but you can do it. After a while, the Q tip will become mushy so you have to soap up the other end to finish the job. Toss that Q tip and soap up one end of the other one. With the soapy q tip, and the lid still upside down, ram the q tip straight down in the gap between the lid and the grey gasket until it connects with what is normally is the underside of the top of the lid. Now run it around the underside of the lid with downward pressure. Turn the Q tip over, ram the unsoapy other side down into it, and run it around under a faucet with running water.
Seems like a lot of work, but it only takes about 30 seconds when you know what you are doing, and the thing keeps cold very well and is essentially indestructible. It will last for decades! Great product.

I use mine to bring healthier food to the office for lunch.
The pros: This is a well made product. It cleans up easily. It can hold up to 16 oz. of whatever you want to take along with you. It has not leaked since I've been using it.
The con: It does not keep food hot or cold for as long as I thought it would. I bring mine to the office with either a hot or cold lunch. I've tried pre-heating and pre-chilling it prior to loading it with either hot or cold food. It's is packed around 6:45 am. By 12 noon when I eat lunch, the hot food is only slightly warm, and the cold food is only slightly cool. So in a bit more than 5 hours, the food is only slightly warm or cool. In comparison, I have a 16 oz. stainless thermos that I use to take home brewed coffee to work, and the coffee is still very hot by noon.
I am not taking this thermos into any extreme environment so I expected better performance. I'm still using this product, but not as much as I would have liked due to the temperature control issue. Slightly warm or cool lunch is not terrible, but it is not too great.
