I purchased the Thermos Stainless Steel Wide Food Jar for my husband, who is a truck driver and can't always stop for a hot meal. I preheat the thermos with hot water and then pour in the hot soup/stew and it stays piping hot until he is ready to eat. Additionally, due to its durability, there's no leakage problems if dropped. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs to eat on the run and enjoys a hot meal.

Outstanding all-around thermosJul 11, 2008

I bought this version of the stainless steel evacuated thermos because it has a wide mouth that facilitates cleaning and can also be used by the kids for soups and stews. The thermos will keep my coffee hot all morning. Even if I forget to bring it to work the coffee is still at a nice drinking temperature when I get home. I now have two because I occasionally leave the thermos at work. The first one I bought over 4 years ago. It is dented and dinged, but still performs perfectly. I even use the thermos on the weekends to store the remaining coffee in the coffee maker for later in the morning. I like it because the coffee doesn't continue to cook and my environmental daughter likes it because I'm lowering my carbon foot-print by not leaving the coffee pot heater turned on.

I purchased this for my husband who works outside all winter. At 6:00 I pour hot tap water into it, seal it and leave it for 15-20 mins. After I empty the tap water I add piping hot soup / stew and it is still hot 8 hours later when he has his lunch.
The container fits about three good sized coffee mugs worth of stew which is more than enough for my husband who has a very healthy appetite.
I would happily recommend this to anybody.

I like to bring leftovers to work, and have a big appetite. Looked everywhere for a thermos that would hold a very large portion and keep my food hot. This does both. It has a wide mouth for easy filling and a large top which can be used as a bowl. I am very pleased with this product.

This Thermos food jar is both spacious and functional: it can hold lunch for two adults. The double walled stainless steel cover can serve as a serving dish if you prefer not to eat directly from the jar itself. It has a carrying handle. The best part is that it can keep food piping hot for 12 long hours even without preheating! I have even waited as long as 16hrs to have my lunch and amazed to find the food still hot. The jar can also take a beating. I have dropped mine accidentally a few times without any functional damage. The outer surface may show dents but the inside is still intact. If you pair it with this Thermos 18 Ounce Stainless Steel Beverage Bottle you may have lasting lunch combo to booth.
I lost mine recently. In the mean time I am using the Thermos 2340STP6 Jar with Folding Spoon which is not able to keep my food warm for longer than 5hrs. Huge disappointment.
As far as I am concerned, this 24oz Thermos is the the ideal Food Jar for Adults. Buy it and you will love it.
