Great design, but creates geyser sometimesJul 29, 2009
By Will Bueche Excellent size -- about the same as a 16 oz bottled water (but in fact 18oz) -- and the way the lid extends out so you can attach a clip to your belt is very sturdy and perfectly sized so that your water bottle will hang perfectly against your waist, neither too snug nor too loose. (You must buy your own clip.)
The acrylic "straw tip" that you touch to your lips is solidly built, and long enough so that you won't bump your nose while drinking. The straw tip connects to a softer plastic straw that descends to the bottom of the jar so you do not have to tilt it to drink.
The transparent design of the jar makes it easy to see how much water you have left, and the opening is large enough to put ice into, and it is easy to clean.
One problem. If you take this with you from the outdoors into your (hot) car, and then after driving a few blocks try to take a drink, water will shoot out of the straw like a geyser as the pressure equalizes. There's a little air valve that looks as if it is meant to keep this from happening, but, it happens. (When heated, air expands, which creates pressure to push out the water at the first chance it gets.)
I like the bottle so much otherwise, that I am keeping it, but I am remembering to be very careful when opening it for the first time after having been in my car. (There's no way to stop it from happening, but, you can aim it at a plant or something.)

Worst water bottle I've ever purchased.Apr 11, 2010

I bought this water bottle at Target and was really excited about the straw gimmick. It seemed to work well initially, but I quickly found out that the mechanism to equalize pressure within the bottle often gets suctioned to itself and thus doesn't let any air in or out. Well, you know what that means: if I pour cold water or tea into the bottle, when I flip up the straw and try to drink it, it squirts out all over the place in order to equilibrate with the surroundings! It's a horrible design. If you try to quickly suck up the water before it squirts out the straw, it squirts out of the sides instead! There's no escaping it. It is horrible. Do not buy this water bottle...buy a Nalgene instead. If I could give this product zero stars, I probably would, but if you like compact, nice-looking water bottles that overflow all over you, your backpack, your table, your important papers...this is the perfect product for you!

Solution for geyser problem!Feb 16, 2011
By Craig Lenti Bought 2 of these at Target and they work fantastically!
If you have a problem with the bottle spitting back the liquid, take the top off. Underneath, there is a circular white rubber tab. Take it out.
Voila. Problem solved.

Spillproof? Ha.Aug 20, 2009
By J. Wollesen One of the reviewers mentioned a "geyser" effect in a hot car. It's not just in extreme heat that this happens; it happens all of the time. If you put a cool beverage in the bottle and just set it down somewhere with the straw open, the liquid will slowly climb the straw and then dribble everywhere... all over your desk, car, wherever it happens to be. Nobody needs to jostle it or heat it up for this to happen; room temperature will suffice. If you just try and keep the straw closed when you're not drinking out of it, there will still be a geyser when you finally do open it.
My drink has climbed 1/2 inch up the straw as I wrote this review.
If you intend to chug your drink within 5 minutes, maybe this bottle will work for you. Otherwise it's useless.

I Now Have Orange Juice All Over MeOct 22, 2010

I guess I have no one to blame but myself. Ever since I bought this water bottle I had the squirting problem, but somehow I kept thinking "maybe it won't happen next time." Hot, cold, room temp, it doesn't matter: read the other reviews that gave this water bottle a poor rating and you'll see how you will end up with liquid all over you at some point while drinking from it (they all did a great job explaining the phenomenon, so I won't bother here). I guess all the times I ended up with water on me weren't enough to discourage me from putting OJ in the bottle, which I am now wearing all over the front of my shirt and pants. Yes, I realize that was idiotic of me, but really, why should I have to worry about the stuff in my water bottle spontaneously squirting out of the straw? And I do mean squirt--not dribble, or meander out--squirt as though someone turned on a faucet as a little practical joke.
Speaking of straw, this was the last one for me and it's why I got on here to write a review of how crappy this bottle is. I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see many reviews that have the same complaint. Next time I buy a water bottle, I will not just grab something off the shelf at Target--I will read reviews here first!
