Perfect. Especially great for making Irish Oatmeal (special technique)Jan 20, 2011
By T. Brzezinski So I've mostly used mine like this: In the morning I throw in some irish oatmeal. Normally, this takes 20minutes-3 hours to cook properly, so this is why i use this thermos technique. I then at breakfast pour in some boiling hot water (actually from a red coffee machine). About 4-5 hours later, I open it up and have perfectly well cooked irish oatmeal (and it's still hot). Success! I've been struggling to make oatmeal at my dorm so it's great to have this easy no hassle way. The interior is stainless steel, so after my oatmeal I fill it up with water from a sink, and throw it back in my bag, and at night it's very easy to clean (long as I keep the interior wet so it doesn't cake).
If my review sounds at all over exuberant it's truthfully in part because I saw the reviews here weren't so hot, and I've had a *great* high function experience.
So this is a well constructed (i abuse it quite a bit) thermos. It also has a great silicone seal, and I've never had issues with leaking.

It does what its supposed toJan 27, 2011
By Zak L. I put some soup I heat up in the morning in it, and 4-5 hours later when I go to eat it, it's still hot and hasn't spilled.

Spend the few extra dollars and get a better oneOct 26, 2010
By ET from NY I bought this food jar because my daughter kept losing the ones she had - link below and I was tired of paying $20 for them. I tried this one because it was $12, but it is frustrating to use. The gasket that seals it to prevent leakage comes off every time I use it, and it is difficult to put back on. It is really a pain to use. I almost wish my daughter would lose this one!! I gave it two stars (as opposed to one) because although it is a pain to use, it does keep the food hot.
If you want a good small thermos, get the one below instead.

i LOVE this!!!Aug 03, 2011
By DJM i use this on a daily basis - for my 2 little girls' school & camp lunches, and also for day trips to the beach, etc. it keeps food HOT for hours - just make sure that you fill it up first with boiling hot water and close the lid, wait a few minutes, pour it out and immediately fill it with hot food. my kids are great eaters but don't like eating cold food - this has been a lifesaver, seriously.
