Not the old Stanley thermos!Aug 26, 2010
By Thomas Baird
"Thomas J. Baird"
I'm changing my review of this product. Originally, I gave it one star based only on first impression. After two weeks use, I have to say that although this thermos ( Chinese) is much lighter and seems less sturdy than the old Stanley, it still keeps coffee warm the same amount of time. As for the materials and how long it will last, only time will tell. I'm changing my rating to three stars for now. But, if you expect the heavier, old Stanley, this new one isn't it. Just be aware of that.

Correcting the recordMar 24, 2011
By J. Reed I recently purchased this product to replace an earlier model I lost, and while I agree that it's not as heavy, the manufacturer still offers a lifetime warranty. That's worth a lot to me.
Also, regarding the stopper. While it's true there are no pour-through holes on this stopper, you can still simply "twist-and-pour" without removing the stopper. The coffee or liquid will pour down the side of the stopper instead of through holes in the top. Again, you do NOT have to remove the stopper to pour.
I filled it with coffee for an all-day meeting, and the coffee remained firecracker hot for the duration. I was quite pleased.
I give it a 4-star rating instead of 5 only because it's not as heavy as I'd like, and I (rightly or wrongly) tend to equate weight of material with strength.

Average performance. An american icon destroyed by greed and chinese production.Mar 10, 2011
By James T The old models were made in Tennessee and were an icon to the American working man. Millions carried these to work through the week and took them in their boats and up treestands every weekend. You could keep coffee hot for almost 48 hours and could run them over with a truck.
I needed two bottles to take with me when fishing, one for hot coffee on for cold tea so I bought a new one to supplement my original model. This newer model is made in china which about made me throw up when I discovered it while washing it for the first time.If there is any product that I would wager would always be American made it would be this. I wrote Aladdin an email about my displeasure and never received a response. I urge others to do the same.
Now to the product itself. It is not a terrible product. It does appear to still be tough and up for a fair amount of use. It feels lighter in the hand and I am not certain it will last a lifetime like the older US made models but I would say it is durable. The stopper that seals the fluid in is made out of an inferior plastic, it's o ring does not seal as well as the original and it must be removed to pour fluid unlike the old style which could be loosened to allow the fluid to pour through it. This allows a lot of heat to escape/be absorbed. Between the poor stopper design/construction and the lighter weight (presumably less insulating material) it does not perform as well as the original but is still servicable. Coffee stays hot for 12 hours or so but that is about it.

By Stockman Not like the old Stanley's! Cheap made china crap! If you can ever go to an auction or an antique store and they have the old style, buy one.
Not as good as the old style thermos!Jul 19, 2011
By MrNoz I have a old style thermos that will keep coffee hot for 24 hours. This new model only keeps coffee hot for maby 12 hours or less. At the 12 hour mark it is at best luke warm. Disappointing! Would I buy it again? Not a chance. I'm looking for the old style thermos to buy!
